Pallor

Paleness or loss of colour from skin and mucous membranes, it is most commonly seen on the face, lips, tongue and palms.

Mechanism

Pallor is caused by the constriction of peripheral blood vessels decreasing blood flow. This is a response to low core temperature or blood supply

• Anemia
• Shock
• Hypothyroidism
• Peripheral Artery Disease

Non-Pathological

• Vitamin D deficiency
• Hypothermia/frostbite
